The number of foreign tourists, who arrived in Bulgaria in 2007 is more than 4 million people, which is growth of 7% compared to the previous year. The incomes from tourism in 2007 are round 11% more compared to 2006, says an analysis of Bulgaria's Center for Economy Development. This way the incomes from visitations reached the sum of 2,3 billion EUR. For 2008 the money are expected to be 3 billion EUR incomes from foreign visits. Residential property prices in Bulgaria’s large cities are expected to increase 10 per cent by the end of 2007, predictions of real estate agency ERA Bulgaria show. Residential property prices in Sofia went up 16 per cent in the first quarter of 2007 and those in Varna 18 per cent as compared to figures for the last quarter of 2006, ERA managing director Teodora Dimitrova said as quoted by investor.bg. For the same period, vacation property prices at the Black Sea and winter resorts increased 22 per cent. The import of main trade partners to Bulgaria exceeds the export in the first month of 2008w with over 50%, preliminary data of National Statistical Institute shows. Bulgarian economy exported goods for 794 million BGN (397 million EUR), while meanwhile the imported goods are for 1,708 million BGN (850 million EUR). Highest is the export to Syria, followed by the Korean Republic, UAE and Singapore. Among the countries where the export is traditionally high are: Serbia, Russia, Macedonia, China, Georgia, UAE and Turkey. Price increases in the lodging property sector worldwide slowed down in the first quarter of 2008 to reach 6.1 per cent on an annual basis. But Bulgaria still heads the price hike, according to the Global House Price Index of UK’s real estate company Knight Frank. The price increase registered in Bulgaria was 31.5 per cent for the first quarter of 2008, investor.bg said. Bulgaria also occupied first place in the same ranking for the last quarter of 2007 with a 33.7 per cent price increase. Singapore ranked right after Bulgaria with a price increase of 29.9 per cent year-to-year, followed by Hong Kong with 28.8 per cent.
