Repairs and revamp of the Trade Unions' Culture House in Bulgaria's second largest city Plovdiv and its re-purposing into an arts centre will start on April 7, the consortium that will carry out the works said on April 4, as quoted by investor.bg. The official launch of the project will set out with a presentation of the architectural and building design in Saint Petersburg Park-hotel. The consortium comprising Greek developer Aktor and its Bulgarian subsidiary won the tender under the Public Procurement Act at the end of last year. The project has also secured the approval of the Plovdiv municipality. The first phase of the revamp is due for completion in 30 months' time. The Bulgarian minister of economy and energy Peter Dimitrov will open today in Plovdiv the International fair of consumer goods and technologies. 991 companies from 36 countries have registered for participation in the event, 668 of which are Bulgarian. Most of the foreign companies are from Italy, Poland, Germany, Turkey, Greece and Spain. The new participant countries are Ukraine, Norway, San Marino and Singapore. After a several years break, the Arts Exhibition “Impression”, which is in the framework of the fair, will be held again. The undoubted attraction of the fair will be the Panagyurishte gold treasure. The number of foreign tourists, who arrived in Bulgaria in 2007 is more than 4 million people, which is growth of 7% compared to the previous year. The incomes from tourism in 2007 are round 11% more compared to 2006, says an analysis of Bulgaria's Center for Economy Development. This way the incomes from visitations reached the sum of 2,3 billion EUR. For 2008 the money are expected to be 3 billion EUR incomes from foreign visits. ‘Albena' resort companies opens a tourism agency in Moscow. The action of the new office will be directed towards attracting of clients for congress, sport and corporative events. ‘Albena' Group is trying to develop its Russian market and to offer there its tourism product; moreover the Russian capital has no national tourist agency. Unfortunately, Bulgaria is far behind other countries in advertising its opportunities for vacation in compare to Turkey, for example, which throws enormous efforts in presentation of its resorts in Russia.
