Tishman International Begins Construction Of Airport Centre In Sofia, Bulgaria 12/03/2008
Tishman International has started the construction of Sofia Airport Centre. The centre is planned to be an international-standard working environment in a landscaped business park setting. The centre will provide about 165 000 sq m of commercial space comprised of Class A offices, prime logistics space and a high quality hotel with dining, recreational, and conference facilities. More than 250 million euro have been invested in the project. The centre will be located 300 metres from the new Sofia International Airport, and will be managed by Tishman Management Company EOOD, part of Tishman International Companies. more

Seaside Pomorie Accepts 2,000 Tourists 07/05/2008
More than 2,000 tourists will visit Pomorie (Southern Seaside town) for the celebration of St. George Day. The celebration will start on May 6 in 'St. George' monastery. The whole city will celebrate on the square and the two orthodox churches in the town will fete the holiday with holy liturgy. First tourists arrived yet on May 1. more

The Central Europen division of Global Principal Investment (GPI), Merrill Lynch's commercial real estate investment arm, plans to invest 550 million euro in real estate in Serbia, jointly with local firm MPC Properties, in which Merrill Lynch holds the minority stake, Reuters reported. Residential property market on the Balkans was blooming after the region’s recovery from the war and the subsequent stagnation in 1990s. Nonetheless, large corporate investment will come only after real political stability is achieved, Robert Schweizer, GPI vice-president for Central European region, which covers all east of Germany, including Russia and Turkey, told Reuters. Credit Squeeze Wrecks Trakia Highway Deal 15/03/2008
The global credit crunch may yet spoil the Trakia highway transaction, Standart daily reports. The Bulgarian-Portugal consortium, Trakia Highway Jsc, which was named as the highway concessionaire by the previous government, has experienced difficulty in securing finance for the infrastructure project. "I will ask concessionaries whether they have negotiated the loan necessary to bankroll the project within two weeks," said the regional development minister Assen Gagauzov, who signed a second annex to the highway contract on January 16, giving the consortium a 120-day period to find the resources for finishing the Sofia-Bourgas thoroughfare. Rumoured possible lenders include the Portuguese bank Espirito Santo, Switzerland-based Credit Suisse First Boston bank or the Swiss UBS. more

Plot Prices Higher In Bulgarias Sofia And Varna 14/03/2008
Intense construction in Sofia led to a deficit in free plots, which in turn affected prices, an imoti.investor.bg report said. As a result of this phenomenon the price of land increased faster than the price of property, the report said. In some Sofia districts like Banishora, Boyana and Lozenets construction plots increased in value by as much as 18 per cent. High investor interest in these districts hiked the prices. Bulgarian and Western companies have launched a number of property projects in these residential districts. Central Sofia witnessed a price increase of 11 per cent.
