Bulgarian Retailer Fantastico Announces 18 Per Cent Increase In Sales 14/03/2008
Bulgarian grocery retailer Fantastico said sales rose 18 per cent in 2007 and should add 25 this year. The company is preparing the launch of two new outlets in Sofia. The rollouts will bring to 32 the total number of Fantastico supermarkets in operation. The first of the openings will occur within days in the Mladost residential district. The 4 million leva supermarket will have an area of 2 000 sq m. The second launch is scheduled for mid-2008 near the Sofia ring road. It will have an area of 3 000 sq m. The goal of the chain is to continue to expand by launching new stores in Sofia as well as in other cities. "To achieve this, we are looking for suitable locations in a number of big and some smaller population centres," said Fantastico. Kyustendil is the only non-Sofia location... more

Bulgarian And Russian 'fraternized' Cities Work In Collaboration 17/04/2008
35 'couples' Bulgarian and Russian cities have established working collaboration, and among 70 cities in common there are signed similar contracts during the last 10 years. That was announced during the 5th meeting of the fraternized cities between Bulgaria and Russia. Russia is not among the Top 10 investors in Bulgaria and the tourists' interest toward our country is far from the level of 17 years ago. The both countries face the problem with the visa regime and the relations on interregional level. 70 representatives of 8 ‘couples' fraternized Bulgarian and Russian cities attend the forum. The meeting will end with common declaration, in which will be marked the parameters of cooperation for the next 2 years. more

A British company intends to invest in a small factory for English-style gardening furniture in the village of Polski Senovets in northeast Bulgaria. PV Services Ltd owned by Paul Vernam from the UK plans to purchase the building of the former workshop in the village located in the Polski Trambesh Municipality. The starting price of the property is BGN 30 000, and the procedure for its sale has already been initiated by the municipal administration. The UK firm also wants to lease the canteen of the village school, which has been closed down, and to turn it into a mini-factory for gardening furniture.
