The Bulgarian property market has returned to tendencies from two to three years ago, when increasing numbers of people bought terrains few kilometres off big seaside cities. In 2004 this tendency led to property price inflation. Many people back then purchased large properties for personal needs at cheaper prices. Overseas property buyers have been reassured about the investment potential of Bulgaria amid the ongoing crisis in the global economy. According to Balkan Holdings, British investment in the Bulgarian property market has slowed down as a result of the credit crunch. However, managing director Chris Northam said that while off-plan properties may be a risky investment, there are still many safer alternatives across the country. Prospective investors were advised to look at the rural parts of the country as prices are often much lower in these areas. Construction Of Lyulin Highway To Be Fasttracked 21/03/2008
Construction works on Lyulin Highway could be fast-tracked, so that it is concluded by the end of next year, regional development minister Assen Gagaouzov was quoted as saying by Sega daily on March 21. The Government will do its best to speed up construction works and launch the infrastructural development by mid-2009, Gagaouzov said at a meeting with representatives of businesses from the Pernik area. The 19km-long Lyulin Highway, estimated to cost 148 million euro, will link the capital with the future Strouma Highway, which will run from Pernik to Kulata check-point at the Bulgarian-Greek border, minister Gagaouzov said.
