Mel Invest Targets Acquisition Of 8000 Ha Of Arable Land In 2008 25/03/2008
Bulgarian real estate investment trust (REIT) Agricultural Land Opportunity Fund Mel Invest expects to buy 8 000 ha of arable land at an average cost of 2 500 leva a hectare in 2008, according to the prospectus for the upcoming equity hike of the company, submitted to the Bulgarian Stock Exchange. Late in 2007, the REIT had a land bank of 3 700 ha, primarily in Varna, Bourgas, Sliven, Yambol, Pleven, Vidin and Silistra regions. The average acquisition cost was 2 227.1 leva a ha. The REIT plans to double its capital to 28 million leva, launching the rights issue for new shares in the capital increase for trade on March 27. The rights will trade until April 9. The minimum subscription target is two million out of 14.044 million shares, which will have an issue price of 1.10 leva. more

Property Prices In Bulgaria To Go Down 12/03/2008
The prices of apartments in Bulgaria would probably decrease within three to four months, Yavlena real estate agency representative Anna Katsarova said. Katsarova said as quoted by 24 Chasa daily that the reason for the price decrease was that real estate owners started speculating in 2006 with Bulgaria’s upcoming EU accession. Calculations were based on too high expectations for price increase. Prices went up by 10 to 15 per cent at the end of 2006 and some real estate owners even withdrew their property from the market waiting for the new year. The demand for lodgings in the second half of January 2007 was high and more potential buyers inquired about property as compared to the same period in the past years. Greeks To Buy 'carrefour' Project In Bulgaria 18/03/2008
Greek fund for investments in real estate Assos Capital bought the project of trade center ‘Carrefour Tsarigradsko' for about 200 million EUR, money.bg announced. The French chain sells the land and the constructing complex, but will stay in the project as tenant with their own hypermarket. The deal is one of the biggest with property for Bulgarian market. The French company intends to invest in other big projects in Bulgaria. The investment interest of ‘Carrefour' will be directed towards the projects round Central Railway Station about an investment in trade park. more

New Tourism Complex To Be Built In Bulgarias Sandanski 12/03/2008
Bulgaria’s tourism investment company Royal Holidays will construct a complex in the town of Sandanski. The complex, called Sun Dance, will be completed by the autumn of 2007, Dnevnik daily said. Its official opening will be held in October 2007. Sun Dance will consist of a four-star hotel and nearly 60 apartments located in 10 houses. The hotel will dispose of six one-bed rooms, 66 two-bed rooms and eight apartments, lobby bar, restaurant, conference centre, night bar, spa centre and casino. Each house will have six apartments, located on two floors, Dnevnik said. The apartments’ area will vary from 63 to 120 sq m.
