Most of the Bulgarians don't think that is possible Bulgaria to offer quality product in the sphere of boutique tourism, says data of a poll taken by Econ.bg and leaded by the end of March this year. Round 30% of the asked Bulgarians respond negatively to the question is it possible to exist boutique tourism in Bulgaria. They believe that the common public-economy condition of the state will prevent this business. Other 28% declared that is impossible for the boutique tourism to survive due to the lack of experience in servicing solvency tourists. 180 Million Euro Invested In Trade Centre In Bulgarias Capital 11/03/2008
Sparkassen Immobilien AG and ECE Projektmanagement, investors in Serdica trade centre in Sofia, have announced that the construction of the centre has begun. Serdica centre will open in the autumn of 2009, ECE Bulgaria head Plamen Ilchev said, as quoted by investor.bg. Investment in the centre totals 180 million euro. The mall will cover 50 000 sq m. It will have nearly 200 shops and nearly 35 000 sq m administrative area. The centre will be on Sitnyakovo Boulevard in the eastern part of Oborishte municipality and will have 1800 parking places. Sofia's five-star hotels have been cutting prices since the beginning of 2008 because of a decrease in the number of business tourists, Ivan Angelov, Grand Hotel Sofia's general manager said, as quoted by Dnevnik daily on March 14. The competition between high-quality hotels has been driven even further with the launching of several new developments. Supply is increasing, while demand is falling, thus leading to a price war between the hotels. In 2007 there were a number of business and governments' delegations, connected to the Bulgaria's EU accession, but than a dramatic fall in the number of tourists followed. “This is a seasonal phenomenon,” Angelov said. Holidaymakers face a steep rise in the cost of trips to countries in the eurozone this summer, as they suffer the consequences of the plummeting pound. However, holidays elsewhere in Europe and in the US should offer better value for money, according to a study by the Post Office. The destinations that worked out cheapest overall were Thailand, South Africa and Egypt.  The cost of 10 holiday commodities compared by researchers, which included drinks and meals out, added up to Ј28.58 in Thailand, a little under a third of the cost of the same items in Australia and well under half the average price for the same goods in the eurozone. Bulgaria was among the top 10 budget destinations for summer vacations in 2008, according to US travel writer Pauline Frommer. Frommer's recommendations range "from romantic getaway spots to family faves to exotic destinations for adventurous travelers", she said in a media statement. "The strength of the euro has made much of Europe a budget-buster for American travelers, but it's also an opportunity to explore less heavily touristed areas of the continent - such as Bulgaria," Frommer said.
