Investor interest in Bulgaria changed its direction from Sofia to other economically developed cities like Plovdiv, Varna and Rousse. Most business parks in Bulgaria act as administrative centres or production terrains. Market Monopoly Of Lowcost Carriers In Bulgaria Intensifies 14/03/2008
Low cost international carriers are facing little competition from equivalent Bulgarian carriers, Pari daily reported on March 4. Established low-cost airlines on the Bulgarian aviation market, such as Sky Europe and Wizz Air, are increasing the frequency of flights to Sofia and Bulgaria's Black Sea resorts. Meanwhile, new carriers, who rely mostly on seasonal flights to Varna and Bourgas, are finding it hard to break into the market. Wizz Air announced on March 4 that it would expand its Sofia base by opening a new route to Brussels South Charleroi Airport starting from 24 July 2008. Holidaymakers looking to save money on their summer holidays should consider taking a holiday in Bulgaria, it has been reported. According to Balkan Holdings, the eastern European holiday destination is much cheaper than many of its European counterparts. Chris Northam, managing director of Balkan Holdings, added that its popularity as a holiday destination stems from this very fact. "It's a lot less expensive - not just to buy property, but to enjoy your holiday or enjoy your retirement or whatever," commented Chris Northam, managing director of Balkan Holdings. London-listed Dawnay Day Carpathian Plc (DDC), the retail property investment company established to invest in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), is mulling the purchase of two retail centres in Bulgaria, investor.bg reported on March 7. Paul Rogers, the general manager of Dawnay Day PanTerra, the company which manages the DDC investment fund, said last year that the fund planned to invest between 20 and 200 million euro on Bulgarian property market.
