Prices Of Lodging In Bulgarian Resorts Decrease By 20 Per Cent 10/03/2008
After the New Year’s celebrations, prices of a night’s lodgings in the winter resorts decreased by 10 to 20 per cent compared to the end of 2007, Bulgarian Tourist Chamber said. The decrease is even larger if compared to prices around New Year’s Eve, the chamber told investor.bg. According to tourism branch data, Borovets was the most expensive resort for a vacation in the 2007/2008 season, followed by Bansko and Pamporovo. Vacation in the Chepelare resort was far less expensive. Bansko, however, was the most visited resort during the season. Second home owners tend to take relatively short breaks overseas, according to a new study. Research by Foreign Currency Direct found that on average, people with a holiday home visit their property five times a year instead of taking a single two-week break. Figures also showed that nearly one in ten stay in their alternative residence about once a month, reports Travel Weekly. Commenting on the findings, chief executive Peter Ellis said this could help account for the dropping popularity of traditional package holidays. He observed: "We're increasingly money-rich, time-poor, so there has been significant growth in demand for short breaks rather than 7/14 holidays." Property in Sofia's residential districts where the demand exceeds the supply had raised by 20 per cent in 2006, imoti.bg data showed. The prices of property in the districts where the demand was lower raised by an average of 9.5 per cent, 24 Chassa daily said. Price increase pace of the different types of lodgings became almost equal. The prices of one- bedroom and two-bedroom apartments was increasing faster a few years ago. Spanish company Ferry Group will invest nearly one billion euro in one real estate and one energy project. The company focused its investment plans on tourism, real estate and agriculture as the key economy sectors in Bulgaria, head of Ferry Group Manuel Ferry Sanchez said. The value of each project can reach up to 500 million euro, investor.bg reported. The real estate project initially included the construction of only a golf course near Sofia region village of Kutina. Planned investment later increased to between 400 to 500 million euro.
