UK-based Bulgarian Property Development Plc (BPD), which specialises in developing, trading and investing in Bulgarian properties, declared its intention to build a business centre with an adjoining office and warehouse in Krivina village, near Sofia, expert.bg reported. The compound will occupy a two-hectare plot. Fund’s representatives have already submitted the detailed project of the centre with the municipality and it is to be voted by the end of March. According to data published by Globalpropertyguide.com, house price increases in Europe over the past year ending in Q4 of 2007, were highest in Bulgaria. Bulgarian houses increased by 34.61 per cent, closely followed by Poland with a 33 per cent increase. House prices in Estonia increased by 23.38 per cent. Prices in Sweden, Lithuania, Cyprus and Estonia increased by between 11 and 19 per cent. Increases in other European countries were in the single digit range, with Portugal, Latvia and Ireland reporting house price decreases. The lack of cadastral maps was one of the Bulgarian property market’s main problems named by foreign investors, Bulgaria’s 24 Chassa daily said. The existence of complete and correct cadastral maps was an important factor in finalising secure property deals and attracting investors to the property sector, 24 Chassa said. The current process of updating the country’s cadastral maps began in 2000 and by now 33 per cent of Bulgaria’s territory had been covered in such maps.
