Bulgaria ranks fourth among the destinations where British prefer to buy property. Increasing number of British looking for a second home abroad preferred places with sunny and warm climate, the Government’s Survey of English Housing said as quoted by The Guardian. Over the past 10 years the property British citizens bought abroad increased by 300 per cent, BGNES news agency reported. Until recently Spain and France ranked among the most preferred property purchase destinations. A new tendency was noticeable. New Winter Complex Opened In Bulgarias Samokov 10/03/2008
A new winter complex will be officially opened in the Southern Bulgarian town of Samokov on January 12 2008. The complex, called Boricho, has been functioning since January 4, a Samokov municipality media statement said. Boricho had an opened chair-lift and a ski-run of one km, investor.bg said. The ski-run was made on the former track to the ridge and was not very difficult. Two other ski tracks, a teahouse and a panorama-restaurant are to be built in the next phase of the project. Boriko 2007, owned by he Samokov municipality and LM Impex carried out the project. The construction began in the summer of 2006. Five New Natura 2000 Zones Up For Public Debate 14/03/2008
Minister of Environment and Water Affairs Djevdet Chakurov signed the draft ordinances for five protected zones in the Bulgarian part of the European environmental network Natura 2000, the ministry’s press service said. The ordinances concern the protected areas of Lomovete in Rousse municipality, Ribarnitsi Mechka (Fisheries Bear) in Rousse region, Central Balkan, Apriltsi near the cities Lovetch and Gabrovo, and Ostrov Vardim (Vardim Island) near Svishtov and Veliko Turnovo. Before going into force, the ordinances would be put up for public debate for one month, starting with February 21. Plans For Underground Parking Lot Construction In Sofia 07/03/2008
Sofia municipality is planning to offer on concession the terrain below National Assembly Square. The terrain would be used for the construction of an underground parking lot, mediapool.bg reported. According to plan the plot would be given to a concessionaire for a 35-year period. A two-level parking lot would be constructed. Its capacity would be 203 vehicles. The potential investor would use own funds for the construction. The timeframe for completion of the construction works should not exceed two years.  Preliminary financial analysis shows the concessionaire would have to invest at least six million leva in the project. Uk Firm To Build Small Gardening Furniture Factory In Bulgaria - Sofia News Agency 26/04/2008
A British company intends to invest in a small factory for English-style gardening furniture in the village of Polski Senovets in northeast Bulgaria. PV Services Ltd owned by Paul Vernam from the UK plans to purchase the building of the former workshop in the village located in the Polski Trambesh Municipality. The starting price of the property is BGN 30 000, and the procedure for its sale has already been initiated by the municipal administration. The UK firm also wants to lease the canteen of the village school, which has been closed down, and to turn it into a mini-factory for gardening furniture.
