Albena Resort Operator To Build New Gated Community 05/06/2008
Albena, the operator of the eponymous resort, turned the first sod to Rila Estate, a gated residential community in the Byalata Lagouna (White Lagoon) resort, the company’s spokesperson Yovka Strashilova told Dnevnik daily. Byalata Lagouna, a resort adjoining Balchik, on the northern Black Sea, is known for its mineral thermal springs and curative mud. The complex, to be located on the front beach line, would occupy 21 000 sq m. The first phase alone is estimated to cost 15 million leva. Part of the dwellings have already been marketed to Russian and Romanian investors. Albena is currently conducting fortification works at the site. The market of mortgaged residential and commercial property in 2007 experienced a slight decrease as compared to sales figures for 2006. The most frequent reason for the sale of mortgaged properties is the inability of owners to pay their monthly installments, investor.bg reported. Only 30 mortgaged properties are currently offered on the market in Sofia and their number in the past six months remains unchanged. Sufficient demand for mortgaged property was registered in the coastal cities of Bourgas and Varna in the middle of 2006. Such offers are missing in 2007. But there is a possibility this tendency to change after 2010, when all planned construction is completed, the market in Sofia might become saturated, consultants Arco Real Estate said in a statement. Mathews’s company, Ecosign, is behind the design or redesign of many of the world’s leading ski resorts, including Whistler and both 2010 Vancouver and 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic venues. Bansko has had meteoric growth since 2000 following the installation of a new Dopplemayr gondola and other infrastructure improvements which helped fuel a development boom.
