Bulgarian Construction Control Directorate To Stop Work At 7 Construction Sites 23/04/2008
Bulgaria's National Construction Control Directorate started procedures to close down seven construction sites following regular controls performed between January 1 and March 31 2008, the directorate announced on April 22. In addition, the directorate imposed 10 administrative penalties and issued two fines, Investor.bg said. The directorate performed controls at 153 companies in the construction sector throughout Bulgaria. Controls involved 118 housing blocks, 73 public buildings, 24 production buildings, 59 technical infrastructure constructions and six hydro-technical installations. more

More than 16 Belgian firms, which have invested over 60 million BGN (30 million EUR) in Plovidv and the region, were invited on a common meeting, initiated by Belgian ambassador for Bulgaria Philippe Beke and Plovdiv mayor Slavcho Atanasov. The companies present the interest of different branches as brewery, construction, textile industry, high technology products, service, trade with freeze foods, machine construction and others. German 'plus' Plans To Invest 250 M Eur In Bulgaria Till 2011 28/03/2008
Plus, part of Germany's Tengelmann group, plans to complete a E250m investment in Bulgaria by 2011, according to corporate communications officer Nicole Dinter. The company plans to build a logistics centre and develop a network of 150 stores across Bulgaria within a five-year period from its entry into the country in 2006. "We intend to open our logistics platform near Sofia in the first quarter of 2009," Dinter said. "At the same time [in the first quarter of 2009] we intend to open approximately 30 discount stores across Bulgaria."
