Bulgaria’s property market is experiencing a period of calm, expert analysis shows. Long-term predictions envision increase in property prices, Dnevnik newspaper reported. The trend would affect mainly big cities and Bulgaria’s famous resorts. In the short-run the steady supply will maintain the stability of the property market, real estate experts said. For the first three months of 2006 property in major cities became 4.7 per cent more expensive, data from the National Statistical Institute shows. Sofia, Varna and Bourgas remain the most expensive cities. The price difference between cheaper and more expensive regions decreased. Bulgaria was among the top 10 budget destinations for summer vacations in 2008, according to US travel writer Pauline Frommer. Frommer's recommendations range "from romantic getaway spots to family faves to exotic destinations for adventurous travelers", she said in a media statement. "The strength of the euro has made much of Europe a budget-buster for American travelers, but it's also an opportunity to explore less heavily touristed areas of the continent - such as Bulgaria," Frommer said. Danube Bridge 2 Construction Delayed By Four Months 15/03/2008
Construction on the second bridge across the Danube river between Bulgaria and Romania would be delayed by four months to September 2008, Bulgarian radio station Darik reported on February 19 2008. The reason for the delay of the project that would link Vidin in Bulgaria to Calafat in Romania, known as Danube Bridge 2, was that Spanish construction firm Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas (FCC) had not filed its technical project with the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, from the Ministry claim, Darik quoted the ministry as saying.
