Rozhen Monastery - the biggest monastery in the Pirin Mountains in southwestern Bulgaria. The monastery is also one of the 100 national tourist destinations in Bulgaria.

 

The breath-taking Melnik sand pyramids rank among the most remarkable natural phenomena in Bulgaria.This place is visited from a huge number of tourists every year. Intresting thing about those rock formations is that some slopes are almost vertical and are covered with sand.



Sandanski – the biggest recreation and spa center in South West Bulgaria.It is also one of the most visited towns by Greek tourists. It is just 20 km from the border with Greece and less than an hour drive to the unique Greek beaches and taverns. Sandanski is also a popular shopping center with cheap clothes directly from the manifacturer. If you prefer long relaxing walks then the city park is exactly what you are looking for. The eleven-meter high Popina Luka Waterfall.18 km north-east of Sandanski, within Pirin mountain, is the Popina Luka Resort (1230 m above sea level). A lot of private villas, bars and restaurants, and several hotels (The Vodopada (the Waterfall) Hotel, the Kotarite Hotel) are situated here. Within the holiday resort is the Yane Sandanski Chalet offering 70 beds. The eleven-metre high Popina Luka Waterfall is located at the Bashliitsa River (one of the initial tributaries of Sandanska Bistritsa River) running through the Popina Luka Resort. The resort is a point of departure for several marked tourist routes in Pirin. It is also an ideal place for picnick with your family and friends.

Rupite - a small mountainous protected area 10-12 kilometers northeast of Petrich, on the right bank of the Struma River. It is best known as the place where the Bulgarian prophet Baba Vanga lived and was buried. The area is in fact the crater of an extinct volcano, its appearance being shaped by the volcanic hill of Kozhuh, the thermal springs and Pchelina Hill.Back in 1992 the prophet Baba Vanga built a temple-monument. It turned to a sacred place for thousand of believers. Next to the temple there is a hot spring that is said to cure all kind of diseases.

South from here are the remains of the ancient town Petra dating back from IV B.C.
