Construction Season In Bulgarias Sunny Beach Begins 12/03/2008
New construction season in the coastal resort of Sunny Beach began on October 15 2007. Only two or three hotels will be constructed in the eastern part of the resort, while in the western part, nearly 20 new buildings will be erected. Elena Ivanova, representative of the union of owners, said that the next municipal council of Nessebar would have to enforce the order from the current mayor for construction to be halted on May 1 2008. The union of the owners said that if construction would not stop on May 1, the tourist season would be delayed. Ivanova said that in 2007, the first charter flights arrived a month after the official opening of the season, making the summer season shorter for tour-operators and hotel owners. European Experts To Evaluate Projects In Bulgarias Potential Natura 2000 Areas 11/03/2008
Representatives of the Environment Directorate- General of the European Commission will come to Bulgaria in connection to the introduction of the Natura 2000 environment preservation network. Projects to be carried out in the potentially included areas will undergo environmental evaluation first, Environment and Water Affairs Ministry said. EC representatives said that Natura 2000 does not aim to ban investment plans in the protected regions. Projects, however, have to receive environmental assessment. Representatives of the Environment and Water Affairs Ministry, the EC and NGOs already visited national park Pirin. There, they discussed management of protected areas and the establishment of an ecological network in Bulgaria. Earlier this month ecologists said that Bulgaria... more

Bulgarian Biofuel Producers Blame Cabinet For Their Woes 27/03/2008
Bulgarian biofuel manufacturers blamed the number of suspended projects and the lack of market for their product on the Government and its aversion to incentive, Dnevnik daily reports. The remarks were made at a round table, held on March 25, organised by the National Biofuels Association. Most hardships experienced in the sector stem from legislative failures, according to producers. They added that the Cabinet does show any willingness to address concerns, so rendering investment in biofuel production futile. According to the current law on biofuels, retailers are required to mix mineral fuels with five per cent biofuel but there is no means of regulating this, producers said. Slide Increase Of German Tourists, Drop Of Scandinavians In Bulgaria 21/04/2008
We can expect positive grow of about 2-3% from the German market, compared to the past summer. Fact is that the German market is neither dramatically up, not dramatically down. The British market, at least in TUI firms develops in the same level as in 2007 with a tendency of slide increase. Meanwhile the Scandinavian market there is an obvious drop. This was stated by Valentin Yosifov, deputy chairperson of the Union of Tourism Investors, chairperson of TUI Bulgaria and representative of the international tour-operator for the country. The Germans that comes in Bulgaria with TUI present 33%, round 25% are Scandinavians, 20% - Britons, 5% - Belgians and 3% - Holland tourists.
