In the last 18 years the American Agency for international development had invested in Bulgaria round $600 million. This was informed by the US Ambassador to Bulgaria John Beyrle, by the time of the international press conference on theme ‘Democracy that give result'. The Ambassador calculated that the US Government invested per $10 every year in each Bulgarian citizen. Named the world’s strongest price riser in 2007, Bulgaria’s property market is successfully keeping up its momentum in the first month of the new year, realtors said. As has been widely anticipated in the last few days, the Bank of England has decided to keep interest rates at 4.5 per cent, with the strength of the property market a key reason behind the decision. After the interest rate cut in August 2005, the property market almost immediately showed signs of recovery and confidence has been steadily rising ever since. While first time buyers had previously been reluctant to commit to any property purchases, Yorkshire Bank found this week that they are now willing to overpay to ensure they secure a place on the property ladder. Property in Bulgaria became on the average 1.6 per cent more expensive from April to June 2006. The average price of sq m of property reached 819.3 leva. The increase was highest in bigger towns and cities, Bulgarian news agency BTA reported. Property in Gabrovo gained most in price, data of the National Statistical Institute shows. The increase registered there reached 15.2 per cent. Real estate in the town costs on the average 633.8 leva a sq m. Price of property in Kurdzhali went down by 4.8 per cent.
