UK fund European Convergence Development Company Ltd (ECDC) announced that it has signed a preliminary contract with Bulgarian Sienit Holding Ltd for land purchase in the coastal city of Bourgas. The terrain will be used for the construction of a mall with supermarkets and trade areas, called Bourgas Retail Park, investor.bg reported. The fund will participate in the project with 70 per cent. It will provide a loan of 8.925 million euro for the project implementation. Bourgas Retail Park will cover 60 000 sq m. Its total value would be 60 million euro. Construction is expected to be completed within 30 months. Bourgas Retail Park is ECDC’s fifth project realised together with other partners with which its total investment reached 36 million euro. more
Three candidates are vying to execute repair works on ministerial buildings, Investor.bg reported on April 25. The candidates have applied for participation under the Ministry of State Administration and Administrative Reform’s (MSAAR) public order “Repairs, constructions and installations works in buildings, holiday and recreational bases, developments and farms in Bulgaria”. The firms are as follows: Elitstroy 2005 EOOD, EKSA AD and the consortium BKK-Terakom, MSAAR said. In terms of weighing up their offers, the Ministry will consider the following issues: 60 per cent importance is given to the price the candidate offers, 20 per cent is given to the terms of execution of the work and the other remaining 20 per cent considers the experience and the reputation of the applicant... more
The European Commission (EC) may stop a major project for building a sewerage system in Sofia, backed by ISPA (the EU's pre-accession structural aid programme) unless the State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (SCEWR) states its position on the proposed plan and charges of Sofiiska Voda by May 1. Carsten Rasmussen, from the EC's Regional Policy Directorate General, revealed the possible move at a news conference on February 27, the Bulgarian news agency (BTA) reported. The money under ISPA, totalling 58 million euro, was provided by the European Commission when there was a concession contract between Sofia Municipality and Sofiiska Voda. Sofia city hall to woo high-tech firms, chief architect says Sofia city hall plans to woo high-tech companies by offering a number of incentives, including real estate, the city's chief architect Petar Dikov said at the Balkan Real Estate conference (BalREc) in Sofia on April 15. "We already have several initiatives in mind on how to draw companies using advanced technologies to the city, which include issuing construction permits," Dikov said, as quoted by Dnevnik daily. The initiatives are part of the wider plan for the economic development of the city, along with efforts to improve infrastructure in the city.
