The number of Britons who are thinking of moving abroad has reached record levels, according to a new study. Removals firm Robinsons International said that more people than ever are looking at relocating to countries such as Australia. Research by the company showed that many are disenchanted with life in the UK because the cost of living is continuing to go up. Other respondents cited loutish behaviour as one major concern, while some said they felt under too much pressure at work. Meanwhile, a poll of the people Britons would be most pleased to see the back of highlighted an apparent dissatisfaction with the government, as prime minister Gordon Brown and his predecessor Tony Blair came top of the list. Furthermore, 15 per cent of respondents said they blamed the government... more
Construction and investment company Niya Ltd announced the investment of 9.2 million euro in the reconstruction of a former bank building in the Bulgarian town of Pleven into a trade and entertainment centre. Central Mall Pleven would have a build-up area of 11 000 sq m, investor.bg reported. The five-floor building was planned to include 40 shops. Rental prices would vary between 25 and 30 euro per sq m. The mall would boast an amphitheatre-shaped cinema, a bank, restaurants, coffee shops and a children's corner. The trade centre is expected to start functioning in September 2008 and would provide nearly 430 workplaces. more

Although Sofia's residential property prices registered a greater increase than those in Varna, 45.7 versus 33.9 per cent, respectively, the average price of new apartments in Sofia was 1043 euro a sq m, compared with 1188 euro a sq m in Varna, data provided by Varna-based Foros real estate agency showed. “The main reason is the lack of large-scale residential complexes that are being developed now in cities like Sofia and Plovdiv,” Dobromir Ganev, Foros agency's managing director said. “There are several gated complexes in the planning stage in Varna, but they won't be delivered soon,” he added, as quoted... more
The Head of the Bulgaria's State Agency for Tourism Aneliya Krushkova stated at a press conference Thursday the Bulgarian tourism companies needed to start offering more cultural tours, the Bulgarian National Radio reported. In her words, the demand among the European tour operators for this kind of service was rising but the supply in Bulgaria was still insufficient. Krushkova stated that if more companies invested more in such services, the State Agency for Tourism would be willing to institute special measures to support them. "Only 13,7% of Bulgarians and 17,6% of all foreign tourists have visited Bulgarian cultural sites in 2007, which is among the lowest rates in Europe", Krushkova announced. Yet, she added that more and more people were starting to show interest in... more
