Albena holding company will pour 50 million leva this year in increasing bed capacity and modernising hotel complexes in Albena resort, according to the company management’s plans, published in its corporate report for 2007 and quoted by Dnevnik daily. Among Albena’s investment priorities are the construction of the third stage of Flamingo hotel complex and upgrading the star ratings of some of the resort’s hotels. Management plans also include land purchases and development of new attractive restaurants with "seductive cuisine" and musical-artistic programme. High house prices and economic problems in the UK are leading to many first-time buyers (FTBs) looking abroad, a study has found. Fair Investment Company revealed that nearly one in ten FTBs have already bought their first property overseas, while 44 per cent of thinking of doing so. The firm highlighted a number of reasons for people choosing to look away from home, such as the impact of the credit crunch on the British housing market. However, issues including the availability of property in the UK and the effect this has had on prices were flagged up as other factors behind this trend. Bulgaria's real estate industry is acting to establish confidence in its practices by stamping out dodgy dealing. The National Real Property Association, a non-governmental trade organisation for those working in Bulgaria's property sector, is to set up a special regulatory committee. The announcement was made by NRPA head Lachezar Iskrov to Bulgarian news agency Novinite. According to Overseas Property Professional magazine, the new body will focus on ensuring that all property transactions are properly declared, in order to squeeze property fraudsters out of the country's market. Industrial mortars' manufacturer Maxit Bulgaria will open its plant in Radinovo industrial area near Plovdiv, the company’s business development manager Pavel Pavlov said, quoted by Dnevnik daily. The new plant embraces a 1.5ha plot and its annual output capacity is estimated at 150 000 tons. Construction of the enterprise finished at the end of last year. The plant opened for business with clients as of mid-February after the successful end of its trial period that ran from the turn of January and during which only trial orders were manufactured. Currently, the factory has 12 employees but this number is expected to increase to 30 by the end of the year.
