The ski resort of Borovets is going to become increasingly attractive for foreign property seekers, Asta Bridge executive director Anton Pankev said. During the coming winter season Borovets is to see a number of major projects, Pankev said. The execution of such plans was going to attract further interest, he said. Upon completion new property in the resort will be offered for sale at prices of 1200 euro per sq m, investor.bg reported. The lack of private plots in Borovets hindered its development, Pankev said. The number of owners offering land for sale was much smaller than the number in Bansko winter resort, he said. Winter Resort In Bulgaria Unprepared For Ski Season Opening 12/03/2008
Pamporovo winter resort was unprepared for the upcoming ski season 2006/2007 opening, head of the State Agency for Tourism Mario al Djebouri said. Construction in the resort was still ongoing, it was not cleaned and Chepelare municipality refused issuing a construction ban, al Djebouri said as quoted by Bulgarian National Radio. Al Djebouri took part on December 11 in a forum on the development of tourism in the Smolyan region. Continuation of construction works was only going to affect negatively tourists and the companies that were setting up buildings at the moment, al Djebouri said. The prices of apartments in Bulgaria would probably decrease within three to four months, Yavlena real estate agency representative Anna Katsarova said. Katsarova said as quoted by 24 Chasa daily that the reason for the price decrease was that real estate owners started speculating in 2006 with Bulgaria’s upcoming EU accession. Calculations were based on too high expectations for price increase. Prices went up by 10 to 15 per cent at the end of 2006 and some real estate owners even withdrew their property from the market waiting for the new year.
