The new members of the European Union (EU) have never had it so good. Property prices have more than doubled in the past two years, with more gains predicted. Economic growth has benefited houseowners in Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, as well as Malta and Cyprus. Investors are rushing to buy property in cities such as Budapest, Prague, Bratislava and Warsaw, attracted by good rental yields and capital growth. Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia will have to wait until 2007 for EU admission, but bargain hunters are already mopping up low-cost holiday homes there and prices have soared. Wwf Bulgaria Warns Of Ongoing Construction In Rila 11/03/2008
The local branch of World Wildlife Fund (WWF) said in the statement that construction work was carried out in the national park and the Rila buffer zone, both of which are proposed to become part of a protected area under the Natura 2000 environmental network. The construction was part of the planned ski zone Panichishte-Ezerata-Kaboul, which was yet to secure a construction permit, WWF Bulgaria said. More than 70 000 people had signed an Internet petition against the illegal construction in Rila. New Buildings For Sofia City Court, Prosecutors Office 03/04/2008
Sofia city hall has discussed the possibility to allocate a one ha municipal plot in Zona B-5 neighbourhood for the construction of a new building for the Sofia City Court and Sofia’s prosecutor’s office, investor.bg reported on April 2 2008. It was announced at the session of the commission on spatial planning with the municipal council. Sofia chief architect Petar Dikov told the commission that the plot will be secured from the 10.2ha park area in Zona B-5, Bulgarian news agency (BTA) reported, as quoted by investor.bg. The 10.2 ha park space includes a three ha government plot, managed by Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ).
