Construction In Bulgarias Bansko Winter Resort Stops 12/03/2008
Construction work in Bansko during winter season 2006/2007 will cease after the municipality and representatives of 53 construction companies agreed on the proposal. Starting December 5 2006 digging within the resort should cease and will be allowed only outside its area, Bansko mayor Aleksander Kravarov said. All trucks will pass outside the resort, without disturbing Bansko residents and tourists. The ban on construction in all parts of the city will be enforced on December 15 2006, Bansko's official website said. Construction companies, violating be fined by as much as 2000 leva. Tourism Strategy Finalised Kroushkova 05/04/2008
The tourism strategy is finalised and is now being discussed by the Bulgarian Ministry of Environment and Water Affairs, the head of the State Tourism Agency Anelia Kroushkova told a news conference, as quoted by Dnevnik daily. The strategy needs to get the nod from all ministries, then put to a vote from the Government. The process is expected to take several months. The blueprint forecasts a revenue increase of 20 per cent in each of the years through 2013. Tourism industry players believe this growth rate is unrealistic. Sofia Will Have Second Sofia Land 20/03/2008
Sofia mayor Boyko Borissov and the head of the State Agency for Youth and Sports (SAYS) Vessela Lecheva discussed the construction of new amusement and sports complexes in Sofia, Bulgarian language daily Standart reported on March 20. A new amusement park, similar to the former Sofialand, will open  doors near Sofia’s Zapaden Park (West park), the capital’s chief architect Petar Dikov told Standart daily. Sofia city hall will invite a concession for the garden near Zapaden Park in the coming months. The place is very appropriate for a new amusement park, because there is no car traffic nearby, Dikov commented.
