Spains Bogaris To Invest 15 Million Euro In Rousse 14/03/2008
Spanish construction company Bogaris, formerly known as Grupo Detea, would invest 15 million euro in the industrial park in Slatina area of Rousse, local authorities said, as quoted by Dnevnik daily. The company would design and build manufacturing, storage and office premises, Dnevnik daily reported. Bogaris was already investing 680 million euro in real estate projects in Romania. “We are looking for industrial land, but we have problems finding them at the right price because the industrial market is developing,” general manager Alfonso Otero told The Diplomat magazine in Bucharest. “I have the impression that there is a lot of land for sale in Romania but few transactions.” Another Spanish company, Keros Ceramica, was already building a ceramics factory in the Rousse's... more

Malls In Bulgarias Capital Threaten Open Markets Existence 13/03/2008
The construction of large retail areas and modern trade centres puts under question the existence of small shops in the residential areas of Sofia. Shop owners are still optimistic and seem to be doing nothing to keep customers, whose number decreases with every newly opened mall, Capital weekly reported. The shops' tenants are constantly changing but the owners still refuse to lower prices, a saleswoman in Sofia residential district Mladost said. The average rent for a small shop in Mladost is 20 euro per sq m while one can find a 'decent' ground floor shop in the centre for less than 15 euro per sq m. Environmentalists Protest Against 5 Billion Euro Projects 14/03/2008
An NGO contested in Brussels 50 large EU-funding investment projects for Eastern Europe that have been approved and started. Six of these projects are in Bulgaria and are at the total cost of 5.12 billion euro, said sources from Friends of the Earth - Europe. The NGO believes these projects are harmful to the environment and billions of euro will be wasted. Some of the contested projects in Bulgaria are the construction of Lyulin motorway that will cut across Kresna Gorge, waste management facilities in Sofia, expansion of Sofia airport and construction of Belene NPP. In lines with Sofia's garbage problems, the environmentalists said it is important that a new dumpsite should be found and that garbage should be collected selectively and investments be made for their recycling.... more
