Rousse Holiday Property Market Losing Appeal 10/03/2008
Foreign interest in holiday properties in Rousse region has stalled because prices have soared immensely and available properties have lost their attractiveness, with the market is suffering a lack of retail space in Rousse’s downtown, investor.bg reported on March 4 2008.   Plots designated for construction of holiday houses command similar values in neighbouring municipalities: in Byala they score 21 euro a sq m, in Ivanovo – 24.5 euro a sq m, in Vetovo – 20 euro, in Dve mogili – 23 euro and in the villages around Rousse they fluctuate between 20 and 25 euro a sq m. At the same time, there is a shortage of commercial developments in the city centre, where most available properties were small and located in old buildings. Bulgarian Kazanlak City To Have Own Airport 21/04/2008
The preparations for the construction of an airport near Kazanlak city (central Bulgaria) has started, Stefan Damyanov, mayor of the Kazanlak municipality informed. According to his words the airport will be legitimated by the international flights requirements. The airport is foreseen to have two runways and a reserve one (1,800 m), which will cover a capacity of landing planes with 40 passengers on board per day. It is expected the realizing of charter flights at the new airport. Mayor Damyanov stated that this is the biggest investment that will be implemented in 2008-2009 on the territory of the municipality - round 50-60 million BGN (25 - 30 million EUR). The municipality won't take part in the construction sides. The investor plans to finish the project by the end of 2009. more

Tension In Bulgaria Army Over Shortage Of Apartments - Sofia News Agency 12/05/2008
There is tension in the staff of the Bulgarian Army over the available number of apartments, which is insufficient for accommodating the professional soldiers and their families. This was announced Saturday by the Deputy Head of the General Staff of the Bulgarian Army Vice-Admiral Emil Lutskanov before the Bulgarian private Darik Radio. According to Lutskanov, it was not the real estate barters of the Defense Minister that have recently become problematic over allegations of unfair practices, but the terrible shortage of apartments facing the army staff that created tension. He pointed out the Bulgarian Army was in need of 19 000 new apartments. "Under the present system we are unable to provide these apartments.
