Atlas Estates Fund Plans A 215million Euro Investment In Bulgaria 14/03/2008
Atlas Estates Fund has announced plans to invest 215 million euro in Bulgaria. The fund currently researches Bulgaria's investment potential. The fund would develop its own property projects rather than invest in exciting ones, investor.bg reports. Atlas Estates portfolio in Romania is valued at 192 million euro, in Slovakia at 30 million euro, in Hungary at 23 million euro and in Poland at 38 million euro. The total value of Atlas Estates' investments in all the CEE countries is 498 million euro. If Atlas Estates invests 215 million euro in Bulgaria this would be their largest investment. Last year Atlas Estates acquired an office building in Sofia for 7.3 million euro. The fund was set up at the beginning of 2006 and has been listed on the London Stock Exchange. more

New 660m Euro Fund To Invest In Undervalued European Property 14/03/2008
British investment company Laxey Partners will set up a new fund, Terra Catalyst, which will invest in “undervalued” companies and property funds across Europe, company officials said in an interview with investor.bg. The new fund has raised about 160 million euro from institutional investors and will be listed on the alternative investment market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange. The new entity will draw a loan from Credit Suisse to increase its investment volume to 660 million euro. It is intent on pouring most of its capital within six months after going public. Construction Boom In Apartments Continues 11/03/2008
A total of 4878 new construction permits were issued throughout Bulgaria in September 2007, 3110 of them for residential buildings, according to data from the National Statistical Institute. The construction boom in the residential sector continues to lag slightly behind demand for these properties, according to Monitor, the Bulgarian-language daily newspaper. Bourgas again 'defeated' Varna during the third quarter of the year, winning first place.  The city issued 635 permits, 534 of which were for residential buildings. Varna ranks second with 568 permits, including 442 for residential units. Plovdiv is third (498 permits) and Sofia comes fourth for new construction (406). Newly-built apartments in Varna cost more than in Sofia in 2007, because of the limited supply in the coastal city, Stroitelstvo Gradut weekly reported on March 10. Although Sofia's residential property prices registered a greater increase than those in Varna, 45.7 versus 33.9 per cent, respectively, the average price of new apartments in Sofia was 1043 euro a sq m, compared with 1188 euro a sq m in Varna, data provided by Varna-based Foros real estate agency showed. “The main reason is the lack of large-scale residential complexes that are being developed now in cities like Sofia and Plovdiv,” Dobromir Ganev, Foros agency's managing director said. “There are several gated complexes in the planning stage in Varna, but they won't be delivered soon,” he added, as quoted... more
