Sofia Airport Centre Construction Launched In Bulgaria 10/03/2008
On June 5 Sofia mayor Boiko Borissov, US ambassador to Bulgaria John Beyrle and British ambassador to Bulgaria Jeremy Hill launched the construction of Sofia Airport Centre. The 250 million euro-worth business park will spread on a total area of 165 000 sq m. Nearly 100 000 sq m of the total area will be developed as class A office space. The centre will also have industrial and logistics areas, as well as a hotel. Borissov said that the municipality will issue the permit needed for the project within days. Labour price in Bulgaria was nearly 20 times lower than in other EU member countries, Borissov said. He said that such projects could hopefully change the trend. Dutch Real Estate Fund Interested In Bulgaria 11/03/2008
Real estate fund Bouwfonds Property Development (BPD), part of Dutch financial group Rabobank is investigating the execution of a project in Bulgaria. The fund is also interested in investment projects in Romania and other countries in the region, investor.bg reported. BPD representatives said that it was early to make specific plans but a decision is to be taken within six months. The company will focus on residential property projects and possibly on commercial property. According to media reports, BPD intended to open an office in Romania by the end of 2007. BPS said that despite its interest in the country, nothing has been decided yet. Buying habits are changing and more people are now looking for a house where they can settle long-term, it has been revealed. Increasingly, the house of people's dreams is in the country, with 59 per cent of respondents to a poll conducted by Yorkshire Bank saying living in or near the countryside would be beneficial for both their health and wellbeing. A further 32 per cent would consider moving to the countryside in order to improve the education prospects for their children, and just 27 per cent actually prefer the city lifestyle to the more sedate life in the country.
