The first-sod ceremony of a new housing compound in Kranevo, located within the boundaries of Balchik Municipality, took place on March 18, municipality officials told investor.bg. The gross actual area of the complex would be 30 000 sq m, as announced by Aleksei Tilianov, a representative of the project’s developer, Old Tower, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Gibraltar-registered Old Tower Ltd, according to APIS registry system. The project’s contractor is Kurortno Stroitelstvo (Resort Construction) Ltd. A total of 27 000 tourists visited Kranevo in 2006, 19 000 of them foreigners, data provided by Balchik Municipality showed. more

Bulgaria needed a strategy for attracting foreign investments in other sectors besides real estates in order to have sustainable development, Rosen Plevanliev general manager of Lindner Bulgaria told participants at the second regional conference Balkan Real Estate Conference (BalREc) on April 16 2008 as quoted by Dnevnik daily. On the second day of the two-day conference the topic was residential construction. “At present 50 per cent of the FDI in Bulgaria are aimed at the construction sector which could continue for no more than three years,” Plevnaliev said. Rousse mayor Bozhidar Yotov met with Spanish ambassador Fernando Arias to discuss the projects eligible for European Union financing on March 11. This was Ares' second visit to Rousse in two months. The priority infrastructure projects for the city hall are the modernisation of the roads network in Rousse region, as well as construction of sewerage and water-purification plants. Spanish experts will help Rousse Municipality with drafting projects for EU funding. Three specific projects were discussed, starting with the construction of a road by-pass south of the city, which would be part of the Bucharest-Sofia route and European transport corridor IX.
