Usa Invsted $600 Mln In Bulgaria For 18 Years - Us Ambassador Beyrle 21/05/2008
In the last 18 years the American Agency for international development had invested in Bulgaria round $600 million. This was informed by the US Ambassador to Bulgaria John Beyrle, by the time of the international press conference on theme ‘Democracy that give result'. The Ambassador calculated that the US Government invested per $10 every year in each Bulgarian citizen. The local experience in the development of the democracy may be favorable for the Western Balkans, the diplomat added. more

French-based leading credit management firm Coface put Bulgaria in its list of countries under surveillance due to the increasing amount of business risk, the credit insurance agency said in a statement on March 30. Coface also downgraded its country risk rating from "A4", which it assigned in January last year, to "A4-". Coface’s rankings, encompassing 165 countries across the world, reflect the trends in three main directions - business climate, economic and financial perspectives, as well as firm policy regarding payments. The countries are classified in seven risk levels: А1, А2, А3, А4, В, С and D, moving from the safest towards the riskiest end of the gauge. Bulgarias Condominium Legislation Draft Flawed Expert 10/03/2008
The draft bill of Bulgaria's Condominium Act is ineffective and has been written in such a way as to serve the interests of heat, electricity and water utility companies, professor Vladimir Petrov from the Civil Association against Corruption and Illegal Construction said, as quoted by Dnevnik daily. According to Petrov, the draft law in its current form aimed to deprive properties from owners who do not pay their utility fees. If the draft law is approved by the Government, the heat, water and electricity utility companies will sign a single contract with the whole building as a legal entity and not separate contracts with each individual. If some tenants do not pay their utility fees, the amount they owed would be distributed among the rest of the residents. The draft law... more
