Bulgarian Competition Protection Commission Stops Lom Harbor Concession 30/04/2008
The Commission on Protection of Competition (CPC) stopped the procedure for the concession of the harbor at the Bulgarian Danube town of Lom. The action is in response to the complaint of one of the candidates – the union “Bri-Port” of the businessman Hristo Kovachki, informs the press center of CPC. The information was confirmed by the minister of transport Peter Mutafchiev, who was chairman of the committee on the tender procedure for the concession of the harbor terminal. In the six month period from the beginning of the year, rental rates for residential property have increased, website investor.bg said, quoting brokers from various agencies. The professionals, however, have not been unanimous in their prognoses of how the situation would change in the second half of the year. High House Prices Drive Ftbs Overseas 27/03/2008
High house prices and economic problems in the UK are leading to many first-time buyers (FTBs) looking abroad, a study has found. Fair Investment Company revealed that nearly one in ten FTBs have already bought their first property overseas, while 44 per cent of thinking of doing so. The firm highlighted a number of reasons for people choosing to look away from home, such as the impact of the credit crunch on the British housing market. However, issues including the availability of property in the UK and the effect this has had on prices were flagged up as other factors behind this trend.
