14.2% Annual Inflation In Bulgaria 15/04/2008
Bulgaria's annual inflation is up to 14.2% in March compared to 13.2% the previous month. The reason was provoked mainly from high food prices, says statistical data announced on Monday. The consumer prices increased to 0.8% m/m in March from 1.1% in February. IMF sees inflation dropping to 7% by the end of the year, hoping that grain crops will increase from last year's drought-hit levels, avoiding renewed food price hikes, commented from Reuters. Marma Starts Work On 40m Euro In Varna Gated Community 11/03/2008
Bulgarian firm Marma has launched construction work on its 40-million euro gated residential complex in Varna, Dnevnik daily reported on March 11. The New Varna community, located in the Galata district of the coastal city, will have a footprint of 73 975 sq m. The project funding is provided by the Bulgarian American Credit Bank. In the first first phase of the project, 17 luxury family houses with an area of 6 200 sq m each would be built as part of the Varna Mirror area within the complex. Varna Mirror 2, also part of the first phase, should receive a construction permit by end-March Marma owner Metodi Metodiev said, as quoted by Dnevnik daily. Buildings account for 37 per cent of overall energy consumption. In fact, buildings and transport collectively emit 50 per cent of overall green emissions, participants in the Building Green CEE: Energy Efficient and Ecological Design for the Region conference concluded at the opening panel on April 23. The two-day conference, ending on April 24, is taking place in Bucharest, Romania. Participants agreed that constructing "green" buildings is an essential element of an overall strategy to reduce growing energy consumption and greenhouse emissions, both identified as the main drivers of climate change.
