Increasing number of Romanian investors show interest in the purchase of lodging or a plot in  neighbouring Bulgaria or Hungary. The two countries were most attractive for investment foreign destinations, Romanian daily newspaper Gandul said. Bulgaria's Black Sea coastal resorts interested the majority of Romanian and British property investors, Gandul said. Investors purchase mainly villas. The price of vacation property in Bulgaria is half the price in Romania. A house near the coastal city of Varna costs nearly 30 000 euro. An additional advantage was the better road infrastructure in Bulgaria's coastal region as compared to the one in Romania, the report said. The ongoing credit crisis is prompting some people to take the plunge and invest in a foreign property, an expert has said. According to Paul Collins of the BuyAssociation website, foreign property ownership is becoming more and more popular in the UK. This was partially attributed to economic issues such as the slowdown in the British housing market, as this has prompted some investors to seek potential opportunities overseas. He added that the credit crunch is also having an effect, as many are losing confidence in the amount of money they have in their UK property. Cabinet Plans Amendments To Concession, State Properties Laws 14/03/2008
The cabinet will propose amendments to the legislation regulating concession contracts, state properties and coastline control in order to promote public-private partnership, Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev said at a news conference after a meeting of the Council for Coordination, Control and Implementation of Infrastructure Projects of National Importance. The news conference was attended by Finance Minister Plamen Oresharski, Economy and Energy Minister Peter Dimitrov, Transport Minister Peter Moutafchiev, Regional Development and Public Works Minister Assen Gagaouzov, and Environment and Water Minister Djevdet Chakurov. First Tourists For Summer 2008 Season Land In Bourgas 01/04/2008
The first group of 74 foreign tourists for the new summer season arrived at Bourgas airport aboard a low-cost Sterling airlines plane from Copenhagen on March 30, Bourgas city hall said in a statement. After receiving a hearty welcome at the airport, they continued to their destination, the Slunchev Bryag (Sunny Beach) resort. The airports in Bulgaria's Black Sea cities of Varna and Bourgas processed more than 3.4 million passengers last year, according to data provided by Germany's Fraport, which owns the majority stake in the company that holds a 35-year concession on the two airports.
