Bulgaria’s financial holding AKB Fores will almost quadruple its investments this year to 150 million euro, the owner of the holding Nikolai Banev said at a news conference, as quoted by Dnevnik daily. Investment outlays last year stood at 40 million euro. The figure for 2008 does not include the investment into a hazardous chemical cargo terminal at the port of Varna, Banev said. The 100 million euro project, which AKB Fores hopes to implement with strategic partners, will be built in a year and a half. Hopes are that it will emerge into the main facility regionwide and deny the competition of its counterpart in Constanta, Romania, he added. Kremikovtzi Mill Sold To Zhevago In One Week? 18/03/2008
The Kremikovtzi deal will be finalized in one week, well-informed sources told the Standart. The Ukrainian Ambassador to Bulgaria, Viktor Kalnik, confirmed the news. Konstantin Zhevago will most probably buy Bulgaria's metallurgical giant mill in one week, Kalnik announced in Sandanski (South West Bulgaria) on Saturday. Alexander Tomov, second director of the mill told The Standart that the information is confidential, but news is expected. Several days earlier he announced that he would be glad if Zhevago heads both Kremikovtzi and FC CSKA. more

Economic problems in the UK are not putting people off booking holidays, it has been revealed. According to the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), holidays are now widely seen as a necessity and not a luxury. Therefore, many are cutting back on their spending in some areas in order to make sure they can afford a trip to foreign shores. Sean Tipton, spokesperson for ABTA, commented: "We are in a situation which is potentially quite depressing. "One way to escape the current economic gloom is to take a foreign holiday." He added that the poor weather in the UK has also contributed to the desire to book a trip overseas, as areas such as the Mediterranean offer consistently good weather.
