The climate in the area makes Kyustendil a year round resort, with an average summer daytime temperature of 27oC and an annual duration of 2200 hours sunshine. There are many activities available within the area, such as fishing, a lake is close to the village. The mountain and its forests provide many areas for leisurely or more vigorous walks, mountain biking and rock climbing is also popular in this area.

Winter activities include skiing. Also the famous ski resort of Borovets is just a 1 hour drive away and Bulgarias most modern ski resort of Bansko can be reached within 90 minutes.
