Kyustendil is a town located in North-West Bulgaria, very close to the Macedonian border. It is one of the most ancient Bulgarian towns with history dating back from the 6th century BC. Gardens Group company plans to invest in a large-scale project of mixed type near Sofia's village of Lozen. The investment would total 400 million euro, investor. bg reported. The name of the complex would be Garden City and it would cover 600 000 sq m. The complex would include nearly 200 apartments, 240 houses, trade centres, office buildings, a sports centre, a school and a kindergarden. The project is expected to be completed by 2012. More than 100 000 sq m of the terrain would be covered with green areas. The sales price of Garden City is expected to reach 500 to 600 million euro. The increase in Bulgaria in 2008 will be slower than in 2007 because of the residential property market crises in the US and Europe. The prices in Bulgaria would not drop, but the increase will remain within 10 per cent, experts said as quoted by Pari daily. After years of growth, the prices of real estate in some European markets went down. Spain and Ireland registered a firm decrease in the prices, property became less expensive in the Baltic countries as well, Pari said. UK newspaper Telegraph even wrote about a crash in part of the overheated property markets, similar to the collapse of the mortgage credits in the US. Turkish Dedeman Hotel Chain Enters Bulgaria 14/03/2008
Turkish hotel chain Dedeman Hotels&Resorts International will take over the management of two Bulgarian hotels, owned by Turkish businessman Sudi Ozkan, Dnevnik daily reported on February 29. The hotel operator has already placed job ads to fill available vacancies in Bulgarian papers. Dedeman will take over the Ozkan hotels - the 200-room Trimontsium Princess in Plovdiv and the 600-room Sofia Princess in the Bulgarian capital, in early March. The Turkish operator intends to invest in upgrading the two hotels which are currently rated at four stars. Dedeman manages a total of 20 urban and resort hotels, most of them in Turkey, but also in Latvia, Cyprus, Moldova and Uzbekistan. One quarter of adults in Bulgaria own farmland, but about one third do not use it, a BBSS Gallup International found in a nationally representative opinion poll conducted among 1 010 adults in 115 Bulgarian settlements in July 2007. The results of the poll were disclosed in "24 Chassa" daily on August 8. The average amount of land owned is 1 hectare. Half of the land owners reside in rural areas, and the other half live mainly in small towns or regional capitals. One in ten landowners resides in Sofia. Rural residents make up about 30 per cent of Bulgaria's total population, according to Bulgarian news agency BTA. Three quarters of those who own farmland are over 50 years of age. A new holiday resort Kostina will be built in the mountain village of Ribaritsa, located near Teteven city, Stroitelstvo gradut weekly reported.The resort will be situated on a land plot of 5000 sq m, and will feature 13 units of three different sizes for the total investment of 1.5 million euro.Investor and developer of the project is Tenbul Ltd, whose owner Ivan Marinov has lived and worked in Spain for the past 10 years.
