The resort Pomorie (about 14 500 inhabitants) is perfectly located on a narrow peninsula on the black sea coast.  It possesses the unique picturesque nature which makes it an attractive place for year-round recreation and treatment.

The town was found in the IV Century BC near the salt lake called by the ancient Thracians "sacred" because of its medical properties. Together with the traditional means of livelihood of the natives vine-growing, wine-producing, salt-producing, fishing, tourism and the activities attending it determine the new face in industry of all its attractive balneomedical sea resort of Pomorie. In its 25 century history Pomorie (until 1934 called Anhialo) has a turbulent history - a Greek colony, "civitas magna" - a prosperous town in the Roman Empire, with the right to cut its own money, an important fortress of the First Bulgarian State, a witness of the battle near Acheloi in 917, pillaged and fired in 1366 from Savoy Earl; the chief supplier of sea salt, wine and brandy of the Ottoman Empire, meets thousands of people from far and wide.

The climate is extremely favourable. It can be described with a mild and humid winter and a prolonged autumn which allows a long-term beach entertainments. The average temperature of the air and the water in July is 23,6°C . Consequent, following each other winds (breeze) from the sea to the shore and from the shore to the sea rhythmically refresh the air. Because of the slow cooling of the sea water, the autumn is warm and continuing. The snowfalls are minimal as the snow lasts no more than 5 to 7 days. From the middle of October until the beginning of March the sea warms the air. Such a climate allows the resort to be used from early spring until late autumn for sun treatment and sea treatment, and the fruit - vegetable belt which encircles Pomorie from 17 200 decares vineyards, 2 200 decares orchards and 800 decares vegetable gardens assure the resort abundance in fruit and vegetables. The maritime recreative tourism is easily combined with the advantages of the healing effect of the famous pomorian lye, whose properties are one of the most effective in the world.

In the resort of Pomorie, the shore is low, sandy, with a fully open horizon to the east and to the west. It is defended to the north from the Balkan mountain. The beach line covers an area of 18 700 sq. m. It is 4 200 m long and its sand is rich in iron. The shallow and flat coastal line, bottom of the sea, with a slight slope and the cold sea currents make it safe for children and inexperienced swimmers. The sea area of the Pomorie Bay is preferred for sailing boats and the quay by the fishingmen.

Among the most interesting sights of the town are the Ancient Dome Tomb from the epoch of the late Roman dominance on these lands ( II - III century), the functioning monastery "St George" - a monument of Medieval architecture- in which icons are kept from XVIII and XIX century, the little church "Christ Transfiguration" from 1764 and the church "Virgin Mary", built from the best student of Kolio Ficheto - Usta Gencho.

Convenient transport links connect Pomorie with other towns and resorts. The Airport is 8 km far from the town. The proximity of Sunny Beach (18 km.) and the district center of Bourgas (20 km.) expand the opportunities for entertaining.

State May Be Allowed To Confiscate Private Property For Nonpublic Use 20/03/2008
Legislative changes, drafted by the Bulgarian government, may enable the state to apply summary procedures for seizing private properties if they impede private infrastructure ventures, as well as public infrastructural projects, Dnevnik daily wrote. Private power stations, water supply networks or waste sites will be categorised by the government as an infrastructure facility of national significance that may warrant the seizure of a particular private property and turning it over to a private developer. Legal experts immediately described the proposal as controversial and unconstitutional. The proposed amendments to the State Property Act have been posted on the government website and are being co-ordinated with relevant state departments. Currently, the state has the authority to... more

Costssale Price Ratio Does Not Favour Projects Beyond Sofia Engel East Europe 31/03/2008
No significant changes in prices or sale volumes in the Bulgarian property market have been recorded since the turn of the year. Prices will remain stable and are unlikely to increase by more than five to 10 per cent in 2008, Liron Or, Engel East Europe-Bulgaria's executive director, told investor.bg. Real estate prices in the country, and particularly land and plots, have appreciated significantly. Currently, they account for as much as 35-50 per cent of the end sale price of enterprises developed on the plots. This is too large a share, compared to the average of 25-40 per cent in most European countries, Liron Or explained. In light of the global credit squeeze, which will not have a tangible impact on Bulgaria in the short-run and the latest changes in the Eastern... more
