Information about the Bulgarian beach resort - Lozenets

Lozenets is a village located on the south Bulgarian Black sea coast, and is one of the well known summer destinations for many tourists seeking for a good place for their beach holiday. It is located in the Tsarevo municipality, Bourgas district. Until 1931 Lozenets was a populated area Emelets also Emberler or Ambelits, which was part of the town of Vasiliko (Tsarevo), after the name of the cape Ambelits (Lozenets).

 

Geography

As a geographical features the mountain and the sea play an important role in the development if the region. Lozenets is a typical fisherman village supplying fresh fish and fish products to local restaurants. The close proximity of the Strandzha mountain is making the area even more attractive and unique place for vacation. It is not necessary to make the choice to go to the mountain or the sea, you just have to visit Lozenets. The village is small and cozy. Predominant are the two and three story houses and villas, converted into comfort small hotels. The village is very green. The mountain and sea climate are combining here. The average summer temperatures vary from 22 to 25 degrees for the months June and September and from 26 to 31 degrees for July and August. Measurements indicate that the sea water in the resort village is the cleanest along the whole Bulgarian black sea coast and the presence of micro nutrients such as magnesium, calcium, iodine, bromine and others are highly valued by specialists from all around the world.

History

The information regarding the history of the settlement is scarce. It is established in 1924 as a place for a holiday for the people from the nearby village Velika due to the fact that they did not have a sea shore. In the beginning the name of the settlement was Emberli, after the name of the famous kind of grapes due to the plenty vineyards in the region, later it was renamed to Lozenets. (Ember = nice odor)

 

Cultural and natural landmarks

In Lozenets is located the church Saint George - built with donations. Just 1 km to the north west from Lozenets right before the beautiful beach of the former camping Koral is located the cave Mechata dupka surrounded by two paradise beaches. Its name was given many years ago from old fisherman who caught two seals (sea bears) in their nets.

 

In close proximity to the resort are many attractions which could be visited - National park Strandzha, the rivers Veleka, Karaagach, Dyavolska - Natural preserve Ropotamo - located just 15 km away from Lozenets. For the tourists there are excursions with boats along the river every day of the week. The village Velika and the botanical garden of the Serafimovi family is located just 4 km south west from Lozenets, the tourists can buy from the available different kinds of plants. The village of Rezovo, the fortress Kastritsion and the Silistar bay are located 25 km to the south from Lozenets, at the mouth of the Rezovska river by which is the border between Bulgaria and Turkey. The village of Rezovo is the southernmost point of the Bulgarian black sea coast and has a rich and ancient history. Beglik tash the Bulgarian Stone Hendge is located in the buffer zone of the preserve Ropotamo - 14 km away from Lozenets.
