Though it was unpopular until 2003, the Bulgarian office property market is growing and is expected to evolve further, Landmark Property management board chairman Richard Macdonald said. Macdonald took part in the first ever property international press tour in Bulgaria. Sofia Echo Media and Central European Property Investment Forum (CEPIF) feature among the organisers of the event. Sofia already boasts various office property projects and a number of others are in the process of being completed, Macdonald said. Bulgarias Condominium Legislation Draft Flawed Expert 10/03/2008
The draft bill of Bulgaria's Condominium Act is ineffective and has been written in such a way as to serve the interests of heat, electricity and water utility companies, professor Vladimir Petrov from the Civil Association against Corruption and Illegal Construction said, as quoted by Dnevnik daily. According to Petrov, the draft law in its current form aimed to deprive properties from owners who do not pay their utility fees. If the draft law is approved by the Government, the heat, water and electricity utility companies will sign a single contract with the whole building as a legal entity and not separate contracts with each individual. Current monthly rents for luxury flats with a garage or parking place in Plovdiv averages 350 euro, according to an analysis of rental trends at the turn of the year, carried out by Europolis real estate agency. Two-room apartments in Plovdiv’s downtown and in Kurshiaka neighbourhood are sought the most. Three-room flats do not enjoy high demand and their supply is limited anyway, managing Daniela Dimitrova said in a statement. A new construction apartment or a lavishly furnished one can let out at 250-550 euro a month and old brick or pre-fab flat, as well as flats that have not been re-furbished, rent out at 200-250 euro, she added. More and more people from the UK are likely to spend their retirement in another country, a newspaper has stated. Referring to recent research by NatWest International, the Telegraph said nearly two million Britons will have retired abroad by 2025. This has prompted the publication to dismiss predictions that the popularity of settling overseas will soon start to decline.
