Construction In Bulgarias Protected Coastal Regions Continues 14/03/2008
Terrains in the wild coastal region Irakli were offered for sale on the websites of various property companies, inspection of mediapool.bg reported. Houses in vacation complexes were offered for sale on the web. Ads present buildings in close proximity to the beach in some of the last wild Black Sea coastal areas. Over the weekend thousands of Bulgarians signed a petition in favour of protective measures and limited construction in the Irakli region. More than 6000 people have already signed the petition, organisers of the protest said. It aims at protecting Irakli and eight other coastal areas from over-construction. On June 30 the Nessebar municipality is expected to take a decision concerning construction works in the wild coastal areas. more

Ski resort, golf course plans on the back burner Investors have put on hold tourist projects worth nearly 4.5 billion leva with only a handful daring to blame the tight funding in the aftermath of the global financial turmoil or fear of few holidaymakers, a check by Dnevnik showed.Investors rushed to inject about 2.5 billion leva into large-scale ski resort projects praising the huge potential of winter tourism and set to create what they dubbed the Bulgarian Alps but now many have given up the pies in the sky.About two billion leva was supposed to be spent on the construction of about two dozen golf courses over the next five to eight years around Sofia and the northern Black Sea coast.
