The price of the agricultural land in Bulgaria remains among the cheapest in the European Union, shows the statistics of the Community. This announced Ognyan Kalev, executive director of “Agro Finance”. However, the trend since 2004 is the land in Bulgaria to get more expensive. The fragmentariness of the agricultural land in Bulgaria is among the main problems for its reduced value, explained Kalev. According to him, the market is however, dynamic and the proof is the 55% growth in the number of sales in 2006 and 36% growth in 2007. The demand is mainly targeting the bigger lots. Rental Prices Highest In Varna, Local Daily Says 26/05/2008
Rental prices in the city of Varna on the Black Sea were the highest in the country, local Narodno Delo daily said on May 26 2008. According to the paper, luxury apartments registered the highest increase, 22.1 per cent, compared to May 2007. Rents of unfurnished housing went up by 19 per cent, while furnished ones increased by 17 per cent. Two-bedroom apartments were the preferred choice of customers, Narodno Delo said. Currently the renting price of two-bedroom apartments in the city's downtown area around the Red square started from 300 euro a month. In the more remote boroughs, such as Mladost and Vuzrazhdane, the price was about 250 euro a month. Arena cinema, Bulgaria’s largest cinema operator, signed long-term contracts with Bulgaria Mall in Sofia and Grand Mall in Varna, as a part of its national expansion strategy, the company said in a statement. The transaction envisages the construction of an eight-hall 2 500-sq m Arena cinema complex, seatting 1 200 people, on the entertainment floor of each of the two commercial centres. The halls will feature high-class digital projectors and audio systems, central air conditioning with microprocessor and remote control. French retail giant Carrefour sold its development, which is currently being constructed on Sofia’s Tsarigradsko Chausse Blvd, to Greek fund Assos Capital, for roughly 200 million euro, Alexandros Papageorgiou, the new fund's managing director, said in a statement, as quoted by Kapital weekly. Bulgarian Land Development real estate investment trust (BLD), specialists in residential and commercial properties development, said a significant demand for second homes in Bulgaria from Russian and Middle Eastern buyers has replaced the slackening demand from the UK and Ireland caused by the lending crisis. The company made the announcement as part of its filing of preliminary unaudited results for 2007 with the AIM, Dnevnik daily reported on March 7.
