Dncs Issues 193 Demolition Orders For Seaside Buildings 01/04/2008
Bulgaria's Directorate for National Construction Supervision (DNCS) has issued a total of 193 orders for the demolition of illegally constructed buildings, including 94 on the north coastline and 99 along the southern coast, DNCS head Ivan Simitchiev told a news conference in Bourgas on March 31, as quoted by Dnevnik daily. All of the developments were located on the beach-front. A fair number of the violations were ascertained in establishments serving food. A common transgression was their sewerage conduits being septic pits sprawling on the beach, which was highly inadmissible, Simitchiev commented. Spa Tourism Potential Hikes Property Prices In Bulgarian Resorts 14/03/2008
Growing interest in the construction of spa centres resulted in increased real estate prices in some popular Bulgarian spa resorts. Spa tourism remains relatively undeveloped but has considerable growth potential, 24 Chassa reported. At present the most profitable investment was buying hotel in a spa region, the newspaper said. According to imot.bg, Velingrad was the town with highest spa hotel development potential. The town offers over 20 hotels at an average price of 675 euro a sq m. Buildings in need of additional repair work are usually sold for 250 euro a sq m. Pomorie offers the most inexpensive hotels with average prices around 600 euro a sq m. Lawmakers Pass Amendments To Public Property Act 14/03/2008
Bulgaria's Parliament approved on February 29 at the first reading the three bills of amendment to the Public Property Act, put forth by Eleonora Nikolova from opposition Union of Democratic Forces, independent member of Parliament (MP) Maria Kapon and Remzi Osman from the co-ruling Movement for Right and Freedoms (MRF). A day earlier, lawmakers debated the proposed amendments, focusing especially on the new regulations concerning the swap of municipal property. Osman's amendments, backed by the ruling coalition, provide for an easier access to land owned by local administration, without any competitive tenders, Dnevnik daily reported. First Bulgarian Hotel Chain Planning Expansion 10/05/2008
Bulgaria’s first hotel chain Grifid Hotels has announced plans to add at least two other hotels to its existing two, owner Grigor Fidanov said, as quoted by Dnevnik daily on May 9. Currently, the chain comprises Arabela and Bolero four-star hotels with combined capacity of 1190 beds. Both are in the Golden Sands resort, on Bulgaria's northern Black Sea coastline. The company has been in talks to purchase another hotel in the vicinity to create a hotel complex. Plans are also to build a new hotel in Aheloi, again on the seaside, over a land plot two ha.
