Mall Of Varna Opens To The Public 15/06/2008
Mall of Varna, which claims to be biggest shopping centre built in Bulgaria to date, officially opened its doors to the public June 12. The day of its opening also marks the official change of ownership, with British privately-owned Miller Developments taking over. Intersevice Uzunovi AA, a major Varna-based investor, has invested close to 50 million euro in the project, but agreed to sell the then-incomplete development for 120 million euro. The selling price is the highest paid for a shopping centre in Bulgaria so far. It is also the second most important transaction in the country in regards to real estate value, according to Dnevnik daily. Government Gets Involved In The Green Building Concept Build Green Cee 25/04/2008
The Romanian government has only just started to involve itself in the green building concept but the new attitudes are gaining momentum. A host of Romanian public administration officials took the floor during the second and closing day of the Build Green CEE conference in Bucharest, Romania. At the example of the EU Directive 1992/01 on energy efficiency of buildings, Romania started drafting an action plan intended to cut Romania's building fund greenhouse gas emissions and energy users. The action plan is yet to be endorsed but will seek to regulatorily require all owners of buildings to implement measures such as thermal insulation of buildings' outer walls, as well as use more environmentally-friendly methods for heating and cooling homes. Winslow Gardens Turned First Sod On April 23 24/04/2008
The first sod was turned on the Winslow Gardens residential project in Sofia's Manastirski Livadi borough, investor.bg reported. With this, developer investment firm Winslow Developments, starts work on the first stage of the gated community, which will cost 105 million leva and is scheduled for completion in mid-2010. The complex, with an area exceeding 2 000 sq m, will embrace six low-rise buildings, housing 444 apartments, a two-level underground car park, a spa centre with a fitness hall and a 25-metre-long swimming pool, basketball and mini-football grounds and a 12 000 sq m park. Plovdiv Applies For History Projects' Financing Before Norway 30/04/2008
Plovdiv applies for two projects financing in the sphere of culture-historical monuments in front Norwegian authorities. The first project is of renovating and restoring of ancient Nebet Tepe and the other is about the Roman stadium. The realization of these projects is part of the Plovdiv municipality strategy of creating Philipopol (ancient Plovdiv name) Underground Museum.  A complete prevention of the archaeological excavations is previewed, there will be installed video wall, projecting films of glorious Plovdiv past. The project ‘s cost is estimated on 897,000 EUR as 85% are co-financed by the Norwegian Government and only 15% by Bulgaria.
