Prices Of Old Residential Constructions In Plovdiv Double 18/08/2008
The average price of lodgings in older buildings in the centre of Plovdiv has nearly doubled over the past year, investor.bg quoted Europolis real estate agency as saying.In the end of June 2008, a sq m in the city centre cost 900 euro, while a year earlier the price was 520 euro.According to the company, apartments in newly built buildings currently cost 770 to 1000 euro a sq m, but near-future prices of up to 1800 euro per sq m were not improbable.The price increase for old constructions was a result of the recent development of property market, while newly constructed apartments had become more expensive because of the price increase of construction materials, the company said.Europolis predicted a slight increase in the prices of property in new developments by the end of the year. more

Buying cheap property, even in Bulgaria's small villages, was becoming increasingly difficult, Bulgarian daily newspaper 24 Chassa reported. Bulgaria ranks first on foreign direct investments in 2007, stated Bulgaria's Economy Minister Peter Dimitrov in the lecture ‘Economy perspectives before Bulgaria and Bulgarian - American trade relation'. Dimitrov explained that the incomes from foreign investments for the last year were round 6,5 billion EUR. Bulgaria's budget surplus until March 31, 2008 was 547 million EUR. The country takes 9th place in the world on attractive place for making business, as ranking first in Central and eastern Bulgaria. The electricity prices are lower only in Latvia, but according to Minister Dimitrov's words the prices should remain at this level. A sharp fall in the demand for smaller studio and one-bedroom apartments of between 40 and 60 square metres in Bulgaria's traditional Black Sea resorts, has pushed down prices by between 8 and 12 per cent in the past six months. Now the prices vary between 800 and 1,200 euro per square metre in new developments, depending on their proximity to the beach, real estate agents announced, quoted by The Financial Times. The newspaper claims that while British and Irish buyers are gradually losing interest in property on Bulgaria's Black Sea coast, they are being promptly replaced by wealthy Russians and Romanians.
