Record Investments In Kotooshu's Village In Bulgaria

The village of Dzhulyunitsa in the region of Veliko Tarnovo, more famous as the birthplace of the Bulgarian Kaloyan Mahlyanov - popular in Japan as Kotooshu, has won several projects, which will bring the biggest amount of investments in the history of the place. This claimed the mayor of Dzhulyunitsa Yanko Yankov.The achievement is due to the new leadership of Lyaskovetz municipality, which has opened a special department for European projects, informs selo.bg.A major ISPA project will bring to the village, which already has more than 2300 residents, 1.5 million EUR. The money will be distributed for the construction of a new water purification station and for complete renovation of the existing sewerage system of Dzhulyunitsa since 40% of the village uses cess-pits. All water-supply mains will also be changed to reduce the water losses and to satisfy the needs of the growing population of the village.Dzhulyunitsa is the birthplace of Kaloyan Mahlyanov - Kotooshu. Due to his popularity in Japan he has a significant contribution to the winning of one of the projects for the village, namely complete renovation of the local kindergarten worth 60 000 EUR. The contract is to be signed today in the Japanese embassy in Sofia.More about the villageDzhulyunitsa is an old village dating back to 13-14 century. It disappeared in the beginning of the Turkish yoke and has been re-inhabited in 16-17 century. South of the village there are traces of a middle-age fortress and settlement.Several finding have been made on the territory of the village: the oldest human bones in Europe, a Neolithic village mound, Thracian funeral, Roman citadel etc.
