The transport ministers of Bulgaria and Macedonia, Peter Moutafchiev and Mile Janakieski, Wednesday cut the ribbon of the new 4-seat ski lift at the renovated sports center in the Chepelare winter resort. The first to go on the new ski lift was Chepelare-born Ekaterina Dafovska, Olympic biathlon champion at the 15 km individual event during the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan. The ski lift and the brand new snow guns are the first stage of an ambitious project for a sports and tourism center in Chepelare which will absorb investments of more than 50 million euros. The new ski lift is 2.7 km long and reaches the peak of the piste for nine minutes. The ribbon-cutting ceremony also marked the start of the new ski season at the resort. A day lift pass for adults costs 33 leva (roughly equal to 16 euros) and 22 leva for children.
