Bulgarian coastal Shabla municipality has asked the energy ministry to update the regulations for the construction of wind power facilities, allowing local authorities to have the first look when it comes to new investment proposals for wind generators, Dnevnik daily reported on March 19. The town hals wants to prevent the use of second-hand wind turbines, which have a shorter lifespan and are less environment-friendly. Greek, Spanish and Portuguese investors have all been reported as interested in wind-power generation opportunities in the Shabla area. German utility company E.ON is also among the potential investors in the municipality. Bulgaria To Demolish 57 Illegal Buildings On Seaside 10/03/2008
Bulgaria's Directorate for National Construction Supervision (DNCS), which started inspecting the legality of completed and ongoing construction along the Black Sea coastline on February 25, has already issued orders for the demolition of 57 units. Twenty five of them are on the north coastline and 32 are along the southern coast, the institution announced on its website. Аccording to the Spatial Planning of the Bulgarian Black Sea Coastline Act, which entered into force on January 1 2008, all entities erecting illegal constructions on the beaches were obliged to voluntarily demolish them within a month of the law coming into effect. Danube Bridge Ii Construction Starts In April, According To The Transport Ministers Pledge 14/03/2008
Construction on the second bridge across the Danube river between Bulgaria and Romania, will start in April this year, the transport minister Petar Moiutafchiev said at a news conference, held on February 25, reported Focus news agency. Completion is due in 2010. The council on coordination, control and implementation of infrastructure projects of national significance, attended by the Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev, has already started. Spanish company FCC (Fomento de Construcciones and Contratas) has won the tender to develop the project that would link Vidin in Bulgaria to Calafat in Romania and also the road and rail infrastructure on the Bulgarian side. Large parks, sports and entertainment, residential developments, as well as production and logistic facilities would be constructed in the region in the next seven or eight years, Pari daily reported. “Investors are already realising the potential of the northern quarter and starting to buy land there,” Pari said.
