Residential Property Prices In Bulgarias Capital Up By 5.47 Per Cent In June 2007 12/03/2008
Residential property prices in Sofia have increased by 5.47 per cent in June 2007 compared to figures for May, reaching 820 euro per sq m, Foros real estate agency brokers said. This is the average price for all types of accommodation including panel apartments and new construction, investor.bg reported. The largest price hike was registered in the residential district of Dianabad, 9.29 per cent where prices reached 843.33 euro per sq m. The average price hike in Krasna Polyana was 8.85 per cent, and the price increase in Hipodrouma was 8.15 per cent. The Residential districts of Izgrev and Mladost-3 registered the lowest price hike of 0.7 per cent and 2.62 per cent respectively. Only 13 Per Cent Of Russians Plan To Buy Home In Near Future 03/04/2008
The prospects of Russian customers to acquire a new housing unit remain relatively stable. However, like in 2007, only 13 per cent of the residents were planning to improve their living conditions or to buy a new residence in the next seven years, according to an opinion poll, conducted by the Russian Public Opinion Research Centre (RPORC). Sustainability of housing demand could be attributed to a number of factors, such as the relatively strong development of Russian economy, successful mortgage programmes and improved lending conditions, according to RPORC. Construction In Bulgarias Protected Coastal Regions Continues 14/03/2008
Terrains in the wild coastal region Irakli were offered for sale on the websites of various property companies, inspection of mediapool.bg reported. Houses in vacation complexes were offered for sale on the web. Ads present buildings in close proximity to the beach in some of the last wild Black Sea coastal areas. Over the weekend thousands of Bulgarians signed a petition in favour of protective measures and limited construction in the Irakli region. More than 6000 people have already signed the petition, organisers of the protest said. It aims at protecting Irakli and eight other coastal areas from over-construction. On June 30 the Nessebar municipality is expected to take a decision concerning construction works in the wild coastal areas. more

Bulgarian Defence Ministry Halts Property Swops - Sophia Echo 30/04/2008
Bulgaria’s recently-appointed Defence Minister Nikolai Tsonev has ordered a halt to the practice of swopping real estate owned by the ministry, an April 29 2008 media statement said. The ministry's website said that the ministry would investigate the status of all the ministry’s structures and real estate owned by them. Tsonev succeeded Vesselin Bliznakov on April 22 2008. Bulgarian-language media said at the time that one reason that Bliznakov was dismissed was alleged lack of transparency in transactions involving defence ministry real estate. Prime Minister  Sergei Stanishev gave no reason in public why Bliznakov was replaced, but media reports in the past 18 months have given an unfavourable impression of Bliznakov and the swop deals. Property Prices In Bulgarias Small Towns Increase 12/03/2008
Prices of property in Bulgaria's small towns and regions with population of less than 100 000 people were increasing, a National Real Property Association (NRPA) representative told Darik Radio. Prices of agriculture plots would continue rising in the coming years, the NRPA representative said. Currently prices averaged 100 leva a 1000 sq m. The rise in the land price resulted from Bulgaria's expected EU accession and from the emerging of investment funds interested in Bulgaria's agricultural land, NRPA said.
