Bulgaria And Romania With Highest Industrial Raise In Eu 17/07/2008
Bulgaria, Romania and Ireland show the highest raise of industrial production in EU in May this year, Eurostat data shows. The local industrial production registers a raise of 3,3% in May and 8,6% raise for the last year.The raise of the Romanian industry in May is 0, 5%, and for one year - 4,1%.The European industrial production has narrowed in May, compared to April and also compared to May last year.The sharpest drop is in Lithuania (-7, 5%), Netherlands (- 6,0), Portugal (- 5,7% ) and Latvia (- 5,6%).The industry in the Euro zone have tighten with 1, 9%, and of the European Union - 1,4%.Compared to May last year the production in the Eurozone have decreased 0,6% and in the EU - 0,5%. more

Overseas property buyers have been reassured about the investment potential of Bulgaria amid the ongoing crisis in the global economy. According to Balkan Holdings, British investment in the Bulgarian property market has slowed down as a result of the credit crunch. However, managing director Chris Northam said that while off-plan properties may be a risky investment, there are still many safer alternatives across the country. Prospective investors were advised to look at the rural parts of the country as prices are often much lower in these areas. Therefore, anyone who may need to make staged payments will be less vulnerable to market fluctuations. Mr Northam added that overall, Bulgaria is still a good place in which to buy a property. Spanish Developer Martinsa Fadesa Starts Construction Of First Bulgarian Project 25/03/2008
Spanish developer Martinsa Fadesa started the construction of its first project in Bulgaria, Stroitelstvo Gradut (Construction and the City) weekly reported. The first-sod ceremony of the Modera Residence residential complex took place on March 18. The complex is located in Sofia’s Vitosha neighbourhood, at about 200 m from the ring road and Simeonovsko Chaussee Blvd, and will have a gross actual area of about 54 000 sq m. Architectural project was prepared by Stroyconsult 999 Ltd, with leading designer Yuri Angelov; general contractors are Livel and Hydrostroy-P; the consultant is Nevon Consult Ltd. The neighbourhood has been one of the most actively constructed areas in recent years. Another two new gated communities, Preslav and Buena Vista, are located in the vicinity. more

In two months the mayor of Svishtov (Bulgaria) Stanislav Blagov should announce a public tender for the design and construction of purification plants, informed citybuild.bg. The water supply and sewerage networks will also be changed. This was decided by the municipal councilors in Svishtov. They have also adopted the Detailed structural plan for regulation and construction on the “Belene” Nuclear Power Plant field. Several conditions have been given for compensation of the population since part of the plant's field falls into the territory of Svishtov. Among the demands are: sharing of the tax revenues on an equal basis with Svishtov municipality, complete reconstruction of several roads, state funding for a potable water purification plant.
