Lovech is one of the oldest towns in Bulgaria.Remains from the stone age and bronze age have been found in caves in Lovech area. Apart from the rich historical heritage the area is rather untouched and the nature is preserved.
There are several preserved museum-villages in typical revival style - Staro Stefanovo , Ribaritsa and so on. Being only 40 minutes drive from Sofia the area is a top location for weekend rest for residents of the capital. The few available options for sale are quite well priced but definitely worth it.
