Sofia Property Prices Up 10-17% In Q1 03/04/2008
Prices for diverse types of real estate property in Bulgaria's capital Sofia registered an average increase between 10% and 17% since the beginning of the year, a Bulgarian economic think-tank said. The growth in prices can be attributed to the brisk demand by well-off people and insufficient supply, Lachezar Bogdanov from Industry Watch explained. Property prices in the capital are expected to continue their upward march and their annual growth by the end of the year is forecast to range between 10% and 20%. According to Bogdanov, investors' interest is high in developments in the big cities, particularly in the capital Sofia and the Black Sea town of Varna, which register the highest residential property prices. King Sturge Property Consultants Land On Bulgarian Market 27/03/2008
King Sturge, the international real estate advisory, is surveying opportunities for entering the Bulgarian market, company officials told investor.bg. Preparations are still at a very early stage, with set plans and a detailed strategy yet to be clarified, company representatives said, adding that they had not decided whether to step directly onto the market or to penetrate through a local partner. The decision is to be made over the next several months. “We will definitely need local expertise,” Liz Agar, European human resources manager at King Sturge, said, noting that it would prompt the employment of specialists familiar with Bulgarian market. Chedi Luxury Hotel Brand Coming To Bulgarian Golf Resort 17/07/2008
GHM, the owner and manager of a hotel portfolio of highly regarded properties such as The Datai and The Setai, said it would open a hotel in Bulgaira under its upscale brand Chedi. The local Chedi hotel will be part of the Thracian Cliffs golf resort near Kavarna on the Black Sea, resort manager Josef Halbherr said.In addition to the 60-suite boutique hotel, the Chedi complex in the resort will also feature 30 villas and nine apartment blocks. The GHM-managed complex should be completed in two years.The 150 ha Thracian Cliffs Golf&Spa resort will be built in three phases. The first, currently underway, will deliver a golf course with 18 holes, nine of which will be playable by mid-2009, hotel, villas, yacht marina complex with resort apartments and inland apartment buildings.Another... more

Mega Ski Projects In Bulgarias Samokov And Panichishte To Begin 12/03/2008
At least two new ski centre projects will be launched very soon on Rila Mountain, Bulgaria's highest peak. The main investor in the new resort Panichishte-Ezerata-Kaboul is Rila Sport, Capital weekly reported. Investment company Fairplay also announced its intentions to invest 50 million euro in the same project. A Russian company intends to build 30 houses in the same region. Rila sport managing director Slaveiko Staikov said that the project envisions the construction of lifts and ski runs. All hotel bases will be located outside the boundaries of Rila national park. The region currently has nearly ten hotels with total 1 100 beds. The number of beds is expected to reach five to eight thousand. First Ecoinnovation Hotel Constructed In Bulgaria 13/03/2008
The first eco-innovation hotel in Southeastern Europe will be constructed in the Bulgarian village of Zdravkovets. Hilltop hotel will feature wind mills, local purifying devices and the utilisation of rainwater. A monitoring system will indicate the quantity of electricity produced and consumed at the hotel, Bulgarian news agency BTA reported. Time foundation is among the project executors, foundation representative Elena Petkova said. It takes part in the public-private partnership behind the project that was created in 2006. Gabrovo municipality and two foreign companies are also taking part in the project. The municipality will have to provide the infrastructure needed for the functioning of the hotel and to introduce a waste management programme. Investment needed for... more
